Writing: why are online translators a bad idea?
1. Computers don't know what you're thinking.
2. Online translators have difficulty with longer, more sophisticated texts.
3. Online translators make mistakes ranging from interesting to embarrassing, to idiotic.
4. Computers don’t know what you’re thinking so, at times, they can’t tell if you want a noun or a verb ("work" for example).
5. Online translators can’t tell which verb form you need (tenses don’t translate the way you think they might).
6. It's always obvious when students use on-line translators, so please don't!
